Box Score 2 GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Dixie State swept Colorado Mesa in a non-conference softball doubleheader (3-1, 6-2) Wednesday (April 9) at Bergman Field.
Aryn Feickert of Dixie State struckout nine CMU batters and gave up just one run and six hits in game one.
Makayla Kovac batted 2-for-4 for the Mavericks who collected six hits.
Colorado Mesa scored its lone run of the game in the sixth inning. Kovac led off the inning with a single and then scored on a single by
Jessica Severinsen.
CMU scored the first run of game two in the second inning which
Sarah Phillis led off with a double. Phillis would score thanks to singles by
Megan Brown and
Tawnee Woosley.
Dixie scored three runs in the fifth and three more in the seventh on a combined six hits to win 6-2.
Jessica Severinsen took the loss for Mesa giving up eight hits and three runs. She struckout four.
Colorado Mesa (17-17) will host Western New Mexico in a four-game conference series April 12-13.
