Box Score 2 DURANGO, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa softball team wrapped-up its series at Fort Lewis with a split falling 7-6 in game one and winning game two 8-5 Sunday (April 6).
CMU led game one 3-1, but FLC tied it up with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth. Each team would tack on two more runsa the following inning.
Karissa Nickeson blasted a solo homerun, her fourth of the season, to put the Mavericks up one in the top of the seventh.
Fort Lewis scored a pair of runs, including the game-winner on a wild pitch in the bottom of the inning.
Jessica Severinsen went 2-for-2 with a homerun. She also took the lost on the mound giving up 10 hits and seven runs with five earned.
The Mavericks led game two from start to finish as all nine starters got on base at least once.
Makayla Kovac was the only CMU player with multiple hits batting 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
CMU (17-15, 16-10) will host Dixie State in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday (April 9).
