Softball Hosts CCU in Regular Season Finale

Colorado Mesa will close out the regular season at home with a four-game series against Colorado Christian. CMU enters the weekend winning seven of its last eight games. 

Triples
Colorado Mesa leads Div. II with 0.52 triples per game. Sara Phillis ranks 27th in Div. II with 0.12 triples per game. 

Fear the Long Ball
Colorado Mesa ranks seventh in nation in slugging percentage at .556. West Texas A&M leads the nation at .662. CMU has two players ranked in the top-10 nationally in slugging percentage, Jessica Severinsen is fourth (1.000) and Makayla Kovac is sixth (.972). 

Hit-Streak
Makayla Kovac is currently on an 18-game hit streak, the longest by a Maverick this season. The Erie, Colo., native ranks in the top-25 in the nation in six different statistical categories; fifth in batting average (.493), sixth in slugging percentage (.972), 12th in runs per game (1.24), 15th in home runs per game (0.33), 15th in runs batted in per game (1.31) and 16th in homeruns (14).

Pitching
Senior Jessica Severinsen has established herself as one of the most dominating pitchers in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Elizabeth, Colo., native leads the league in earned run average (2.92) and third in both strikeouts (92) and wins (12). Opponents are hitting .276 against her, sixth lowest in the RMAC. 

Shutouts
CMU recorded its fourth shutout of the year in a 10-0 route at Black Hills State Saturday (April 19). Mesa is a perfect 9-0 when it gives up two or less runs. 

Scoring Runs
The Mavericks are 9-0 this season when they score 10 or more runs. CMU is 18-6 when it scores the first run of the game. 

Last Time Out
Colorado Mesa out-hit Chadron State 6-5, but the Eagles collected a 4-3 win over the Mavericks April 19.

Colorado Mesa will play in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament May 1-3.
