Box Score 2 SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Colorado Mesa softball team split a pair of RMAC games Saturday (April 19). CMU defeated Black Hills State 10-0 and lost to Chadron State 4-3.
The Mavericks wasted no time putting up runs scoring four in the first and three in the third.
Sarah Phillis accounted for all four CMU runs in the first with a grand slam.
Jessica Severinsen followed up with a three-run blast to center field the following inning.
Makayla Kovac tallied the third homerun of the game for the Mavericks with a three-run blast in the fifth.
All 10 of CMU's runs came on three homeruns.
Jessica Severinsen struckout six and gave up just two hits in the win.
Chadron State scored three runs on three hits in the third, but Colorado Mesa tied it up after
Makayla Kovac drove in a pair with a triple and went on to score on a sacrifice fly by
Jessica Severinsen.
Chadron scored the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh with a pair of singles.
Kovac finished 3-for-4 at the plate with two of the team's three RBIs.
Ashley Pulido started the game giving up three runs, one earned, on three hits.
Jessica Severinsen took the loss allowing one run on two hits.
CMU (24-18, 22-11) will host Colorado Christian in the final series of the regular season April 26-27.
