Box Score 2 GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa softball team completed the four game sweep of Western New Mexico with a pair of wins (8-0, 15-8) Sunday (April 13).
Jessica Severinsen continued to dominate in the circle striking out nine Mustangs and giving up three hits in the game one shutout.
Makayla Kovac led the Mavericks offensively batting 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs.
Nicole Robinson,
Madelyn Schulz,
Sarah Phillis and
Brooke Ortale all had two hits in the game for the Mavericks who tallied 14 in the contest.
CMU battled snow, rain and wind to score a season-high 15 runs on 10 hits in game two. The Mavericks were walked nine times and hit by four pitches.
The Mustangs started the game with back-to-back homeruns in the top of the first inning.

Nicole Robinson led off with a triple and scored on a wild pitch.
CMU scored five runs in the second on just two hits. The Mavericks capitalized on several Mustang miscues scoring a game-high seven runs on four hits in the third inning which also featured a 47 minute rain delay.
The game featured five home runs including one by
Makayla Kovac in the fourth and another by
Rachel Boothe in the fifth.
Sarah Phillis finished with game-highs in both hits (three) and RBIs (three).
CMU (21-17, 20-10) will face Black Hills and Chadron April 18-19 in Spearfish, S.D.
