Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa finally was able to open their 2014 season on Saturday afternoon. The Mavericks came away with an 11-5 win over Adams State at Walker Field in a Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association match.
Mitch Flaherty had the hot hand for the Mavericks, tallying a hat trick on just five shots. Flaherty scored a goal in each of the first two quarters of the match while scoring one goal in the second half.
Michael Beimford scored one goal while assisting on three others. The preseason All-WILA pick also finished with five groundballs as well.
Preseason All-American
Brad Brandenburg got the start between the pipes and finished with five saves and four groundballs. Brandenburg faced 42 shot from the Adams State in the match.
Grizzly Connor Morgan finished the game with two goals.
The Mavericks will return to the field on March 18 when they play host to Rockhurst University.
