Softball Ends Weekend With Shutout

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Ashley Pulido threw a three-hit shutout to lead Colorado Mesa to an 8-0 win over Regis Sunday (March 30). CMU split the day as it opened the day with a 14-4 loss to CSU-Pueblo.

The Mavericks opened with three runs on two hits and one error in the first game against Regis.

CMU tacked on three more runs in the third which was highlighted by a two-run homerun by Sarah Phillis.

Phillis accounted for the final two runs for Colorado Mesa in the fourth inning. She drove in a run with a triple to right field and then scored on a single by Nicole Robinson. Phillis finished the game 2-for-2 with three RBIs, three runs scored and one walk.

Nicole Robinson finished 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Karissa Nickeson was 1-for-1 with two walks and two RBIs.

Pulido struck out seven and walked two for her fifth win of the season.

CSU-Pueblo dominated the first game jumping out to a 10-0 lead after scoring seven runs in the top of the third.

The Mavericks would score all four of their runs in the bottom half of the inning featuring a Makayla Kovac three-run homer, her 10th of the season. Kovak reached base all three at-bats collecting two hits and one walk and drove in three runs.

CMU (15-13, 14-8) will play at Fort Lewis April 5-6.
