Maverick Softball Drops a Pair Saturday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa softball team split a pair of RMAC games Saturday (March 29). CMU fell to Regis 6-1 and 8-4 to CSU-Pubelo.

Regis hit a two-run homerun in both the first and second innings. CMU had a chance to tie it up in the second but didn't collect a run after loading the bases with no outs.

CMU committed a pair of costly errors in the fourth inning which led to a pair of RU runs.

The Mavericks scored its lone run in the fifth inning with Tawnee Woosley scoring on a sacrifice fly by Sarah Phillis.

Colorado Mesa had eight hits in the contest and collected seven walks but left 11 runners on base.

Jo Bolyard took the loss for CMU giving up four runs in 1.2 innings of work. Ashley Pulido struck-out seven and gave up two runs, both unearned, in 5.1 innings of relief work.

Pulido pitched the complete game against CSU-Pueblo striking out five but giving up eight runs on 16 hits.

CSUP took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third, but Sarah Phillis blasted a grand slam in the bottom of the inning to give CMU a 4-2 edge.

The Thunderwolves answered with four runs in its next at-bat and two more in the fifth.

Colorado Mesa (14-10, 13-7) will face CSU-Pueblo and Regis Sunday (March 29).
