Box Score TAMPA, Fla. – Colorado Mesa blew a 6-2 halftime lead and allowed nine second half Spartan goals in an 10-9 loss to fifth ranked Tampa. Colorado Mesa fell to 3-1 on the season while Tampa improves to 9-1 on the year.
After building a 6-2 halftime lead, the Mavericks allowed four straight Spartan goals in the third quarter and led 8-6 after three quarters of play.
Colorado Mesa was then outscored 4-1 in the final quarter of play.
The Mavericks struggled on faceoffs for the second straight game. CMU was 6-for-22 on faceoffs while the Spartans won the other 16. CMU was able to force 21 Tampa turnovers while only losing 18 themselves.
Daniel Caddoo led the Mavericks with two goals and an assist. Caddoo helped the Mavericks to the 6-2 halftime lead with all his points coming in the first half. He also finished the game with three groundballs.
Colorado Mesa will play at Florida Southern on Friday night at 6:00pm in Lakeland, Fla.
