Softball at Adams This Week

Colorado Mesa will look to extend its 10-game winning streak at Adams State this weekend (March 22-23). The weekend match-up will feature the top two teams in the RMAC with the Mavericks in first and the Grizzlies in second. 
Pitcher of the Week
Colorado Mesa earned its third straight RMAC Player of the Week, including back-to-back Pitcher of the week honors, as Ashley Pulido pitched a five-inning perfect game in the bottom of a doubleheader with New Mexico Highlands on March 15. She had 10 total strikeouts to just one walk while going 2-0 in two appearances (nine total innings). She held the Cowgirls to a .229 batting average in both games combined.
Homeruns
Mesa is one of the top teams in the nation at hitting the long ball. The Mavericks rank 11th nationally in Div. II with 1.25 homeruns per game. Makayla Kovac and Jessica Severinsen are tied for 13th in the nation with 0.4 homeruns per game. The duo hit back-to-back homeruns at New Mexico Highlands and Kovac followed with a homerun in her next at-bat as well. The Mavs hit a season-high four homeruns against the Cowgirls. CMU has hit a homerun in 12 of 18 games this season. 
Offense
CMU tallied four season-highs at NMHU; at-bats (39), runs scored (12), hits (18) and RBIs (12). Mesa is 9-1 this season when it out-hits their opponents.
March Madness
Mesa is a perfect 8-0 in the month of March. 
Game One Winner
CMU is 6-1 this season in the first game of a doubleheader. Mesa has followed up with a 5-2 mark in the second game. 
Last Time Out
CMU completed a four-game sweep of New Mexico Highlands last weekend in Las Vegas, N.M. The Mavericks opened the series with a pair of shutout wins to open the series. Mesa did not commit a single error in the series. 
Looking Ahead
Colorado Mesa will host Regis and CSU-Pueblo for a pair of games March 29-30.
