Albright Earns Narrow Win Over Mesa

Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Erin Farrell scored the first and last goal of the game to lift Albright to a 12-11 win over the Colorado Mesa women's lacrosse team Wednesday (March 19) at Walker Field.

Albright and Mesa traded goals to start the contest, before the Lions rattled off three straight scores including a pair by Lexi Garopola.

The momentum swung back in the Mavericks favor as they scored five goals that were bookended by goals by Ashley Eickhoff to give CMU a 6-4 lead.

Amanda Smith scored the final goal of the half for the Lions to cut the Maverick lead to 6-5.

Albright started the second with two straight goals to take its first lead of the second half, 7-6.

CMU regained the lead after scoring three unanswered goals over a two minute span.

Garopola tied the game at 9-9 with an unassisted score with 17 minutes remaining.

Zoe Aldous netted her second goal of the season to give Mesa its final lead of the game with eight minutes remaining.

Garapola scored the game-tying goal one minute later and Farrell followed with the game-winner with two minutes remaining. Garapola finished with a game-high five goals.

Albright out-shot Mesa 30-23, but the Mavericks finished with a 12-5 edge in saves.

Lauren Wells made 12 saves and allowed 12goals for CMU with her counterpart Emily Hutson finishing with five saves and 11 goals against.

Allie Henderson led CMU with one goal and four assists. Ashley Eickhoff and Haley Kroll each scored three goals for Mesa.

Mesa (2-3) will play at Linfield March 24.
