Women's Lacrosse Earns 16-3 Victory Over Rockhurst

Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Colorado Mesa women's lacrosse team scored five straight goals to start the game in a 16-3 win over Rockhurst at Walker Field Tuesday (March 18). 

Ashley Eickhoff led the Mavericks with five points, four goals and one assist, and Allie Henderson came off the bench to finish with four points, one goal and three assists. 

Mesa scored its first five goals of the contest over a 5:46 span before Rockhurst broke up the shutout with its first goal of the game at 23:16. CMU would answer with three straight goals and four of the next five in the half. 

The Mavericks opened the second half just like it started the first with five straight goals. 

The CMU defense was also staunch allowing just three goals in the contest, including just a single second half tally. They also forced 26 turnovers, while committing just 19. 

Mesa finished with advantages in shots (30-10) and ground balls (33-15).

Jillian Pfeifer allowed two goals and made one save in her first start and earned the win for the Mavericks. Lauren Wells made two saves and allowed one goal in 30 minutes of work. 

Hannah Weisbord and Andrea Heinemann each finished with one goal and one assist for Rockhurst. 

Mesa improves to 2-2 on the season and will host Albright Wednesday (March 19).
