Mavericks Extend Winning Streak to 20

Box Score SPEARFISH, S.D. – The second ranked Colorado Mesa women's basketball team survived a scare from the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets tonight at the Donald E. Young Center. The Mavericks defeated the Black Hills 86-82, to win their 20th consecutive game.
 
Sharaya Selsor paced the Mavericks with 35 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field and 10-of-12 from the line. This is the sixth game this season Selsor has scored more than 30 points in a game and she is averaging 37.5 points per game against Black Hills State this season.
 
Three other players finished the night in double-figures led by the 16 points from Christen Lopez. Aubry Boehme finished with 13 points and Hannah Pollart had 10.
 
The Mavericks shot 54 percent (27-of-50) from the field and 50 percent (11-of-22) from beyond the three-point line. They also outrebounded the Yellow Jackets 27-21 and committed fewer turnovers 14-12.
 
Black Hills State is only the second team all season long to score more than 70 points and shoot over 40 percent from the field in a game. The Yellow Jackets shot an astonishing 53 percent (26-of-49) from the field and only missed one free-throw on the night (21-of-22.)
 
Chelsey Biegler led Black Hills State with 25 points.
 
The lead changed hands 25 times in the game and the score was tied six times. Colorado Mesa's largest lead was 10 with just 29 seconds left in the game, while Black Hills' largest lead was five at the 10:12 mark of the first half.
 
The Mavericks will travel to Chadron State tomorrow night for a tilt with the Eagles. The tipoff is set for 5:30pm.
