Mavericks Claim Second Straight RMAC Championship

Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa clinched the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular season championship on Saturday night with an 82-46 victory over the Western State Colorado Mountaineers in Brownson Arena.
 
The win secures Colorado Mesa's second consecutive RMAC Championship and clinched the number one seed throughout the RMAC Shootout.
 
The Mavericks shot 44 percent (25-of-57) from the field including 39 percent (11-of-28) from behind the three-point arc. They held the Mountaineers to just 17 percent (9-of-51) from the field and just four made baskets in the second half.
 
CMU led by as many as 42 points in the game and scored 20 points in the paint. They also tallied 21 points off turnovers and 16 second chance points.
 
Senior Sharaya Selsor, playing in her final regular season home game, finished with a game-high 29 points and five rebounds. She is just 14 points shy of tying Kelsey Sigl's single-season scoring record set just last season.
 
Kellie Schriebvogel led the Mountaineers with 10 points on the night.
 
Tonight was also 'Breast Cancer Awareness' night with proceeds from the game benefitting the 'Swing for Life' organization for cancer research.
 
Colorado Mesa will be on the road next weekend to take on the Adams State Grizzlies and the Fort Lewis Skyhawks.
