GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado – The No. 20 Colorado Mesa wrestling team picked up a pair of dual match victories on Friday night in Brownson Arena at the Maverick Duals. The Mavericks defeated Sierra College 50-3 and Embry-Riddle 40-6 in their first two duals of the season.
Against Sierra College, Colorado Mesa won nine of the ten bouts on their way to the lopsided victory over the junior college from Rocklin, California.

Randy Boerner,
Mitch Wyatt, Edwin Gutierrez, and
Jordan Passehl all won their match by fall. Martinez' and Passehl's pins came at the 42 second mark of the match.
In the dual with Embry-Riddle, the Mavericks won eight of the ten bouts and all but one came for bonus points against the Eagles.

Mitch Wyatt also claimed a win by pin at 184 pounds.
Colorado Mesa will host the DoubleTree Open tomorrow beginning at 9am.
