GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University men's tennis team won all three doubles matches in a 6-3 win over MSU Denver in nonconference action Friday (Oct. 3).
"Winning all three doubles matches was huge for us to take a 3-0 lead heading into singles," said head coach
Dan MacDonald.
Jordan Lyden and
Spencer Weinberg narrowly won at No. 1 doubles 9-8 (2). Lyden would fall 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, but Weinberg would prevail 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2.
"Spencer had a great match in both singles and doubles," said MacDonald.
Andres Garcia-Rojas and
Duncan Alger were victorious at No. 2 doubles 8-6. Garcia-Rojas won at No. 3 singles 6-4, 6-1.
Trevor Brown and
Cody Freischlag won the final doubles match (8-3), and Brown won at No. 4 singles (7-5, 6-2).
CMU will face MSU-Billings and CSU-Pueblo Saturday (Oct. 3).
