GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. – Colorado Mesa University swept Colorado Christian in both men's and women's tennis Thursday (Oct. 2).
Rachel McLaughlin and Kristin Wykert took the win (8-2) at No. 1 doubles. McLaughlin also posted a 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
Natalie Martin and
Katie Kirby won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. The duo also took the win in singles, Martin won by retirement at No. 1, and Kirby won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4.
Emily Dodson and
Amy Beeston won No. 3 doubles 8-1. Beeston also posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
Michelle Phillips won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
Jordan Lyden and
Spencer Weinberg had the closest doubles match for the men winning 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Lyden took the win at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1.
Andres Garcia-Rojas and
Duncan Alger won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles, and
Cody Freischlag and
Trevor Brown won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Garcia Rojas won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Brown won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.
Freischlag took the win (6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, and Ben Schlitchting won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5.
Cody Harmen posted his first career singles win at No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-1.
The men will battle MSU Denver Friday at 2 pm, and the women will face Dixie State at 2 pm.
