SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State Rambelle's picked up two first half goals and never looked back in a 2-0 victory over the Colorado Mesa Mavericks on Sunday afternoon.
Angelo State's Maggie Schaffer scored the first goal in the 23
rd minute of the match off a deflected shot that hit the crossbar.
Just a little over seven minutes later, Rambelle Brianne Brown scored the insurance goal that gave Angelo State the decisive 2-0 advantage.
Colorado Mesa outshot Angelo State in the second half but couldn't find the back of the net.
Emma Thompson paced the Mavericks with three shots, two coming on goal.
"We have played some strong opponents the past two weekends but we have yet to play to our full potential. We look forward to growing from the past two weeks and start fresh heading into conference play," Maverick coach Erin Sharpe said about the non-conference portion of the schedule.
The Mavericks will open up RMAC play this week when they take on the Colorado Christian Cougars on Friday at 11am in Lakewood.
