ODESSA, Texas – CMU women's soccer coach Erin Sharpe said last week that the Mavericks needed to shoot more. Well, the Mavericks outshot Texas-Permian Basin 28-7 in a 2-0 win for their first victory of the 2013 season.
"Particularly after last weekend, we put a lot of emphasis on taking advantage of our opportunities to goal by taking more shots today. I am proud of our effort in that category by out shooting our opponent 28-7," Coach Sharpe said of the shooting.

Veronica Rodriguez scored her first goal of the season. Rodriguez took a cross from fellow senior
Tayler Franklin and found the back of the net.
The score would remain that way until the 77
th minute of the second half.
Freshman
Isa Revelle found the back of the net for her first goal of her Maverick career. Revelle scored on a deflected shot from
Veronica Rodriguez to put the Mavericks up 2-0.
Junior goalkeeper
Sarah Schnetzler picked up the win in goal, posting four saves between the pipes. It was the first shutout of the season for Schnetzler and the defense.
"Our focus for Sunday's game is that we need to put more shots on frame. We are pleased to get our first result today and look forward to our continued improvement moving into Sunday," Sharpe added about the win.
The Mavericks will travel to San Angelo to take on the Angelo State Rambelles on Sunday.
