Colorado Mesa (28-17-1) was eliminated from the 2013 RMAC Softball Championship Tournament falling to Adams State 3-1 at Lakewood Park in Lakewood, Colo.
Adams State scored first in the top of the first on an unearned run. A fielding error to start the game allowed a base runner who eventually would score on an RBI double with two outs.
CMU tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom half on a Rachel Boothe double to right center scoring Makayla Kovac who walked with two outs in the inning. Kovac advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on the double.
The score remained tied until the seventh when the Grizzlies scored two runs, the go-ahead run unearned, on a two RBI single with two outs. With two outs the Grizzlies DeLorenzo walked, stole second and advanced to third on an a throwing error. Lovata was intentionally walked and stole second. The duo scored on the RBI single by Richins for a 3-1 lead.
CMU put a runner on base in the bottom half; a one out pinch hit single down the left field line by Brooke Ortale. The Grizzlies closed out the game with a pop up to the catcher and a pop up to the first baseman.
CMU had three hits in the game and committed three errors. Adams State had six hits scored three runs, only one earned run, to advance to play on Sunday. Jessica Severinsen was credited with the loss (19-6) allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits, two walks and four strikeouts.
