Colorado Mesa softball stayed alive in the RMAC Softball Championship Tournament sending home CSU-Pueblo in an elimination game 3-0.
CMU took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on three hits for the early advantage. Lead-off batter Taylor Gross singled up the middle and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Nicole Robinson. Makayla Kovac walked and Jessica Severinsen's double to left center scored Gross and Kovac. Megan Brown hit a two-out single up the middle before the T-Wolves retired the side on a pop-up.
In the fourth the Mavs scored a run to make it 3-0 on a RBI double to left field by Kovac scoring Caitlin Pattee (walk).
Freshman Courtney Shreves picked up her seventh win (7-7) with a complete game shutout. Shreves allowed three hits, walked two and struck out seven.
CMU will play Adams State at 4 p.m. today in their second elimination game of the day. Adams State eliminated Fort Lewis earlier in the day 3-0. The winner of the game will advance to play Sunday at 11 a.m. versus a team yet to be determined.
