Colorado Mesa men's tennis team remains undefeated in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action defeating Colorado Christian 9-0 on Thursday in Lakewood. CMU continued the streak in an 8-1 win over CSU-Pueblo on Friday afternoon at City Park in Pueblo.
The Mavericks swept CCU winning all three pro-set doubles matches, dropping a total of four games, taking a 3-0 lead into singles action. CMU won all six singles matches in straight sets, including the top three players allowing just one game in six sets. Jordan Lyden (#1) defeated Chris Flathers 6-0, 6-1. Andres Garcia-Rojas (#2) and Taylor Macres (#3) each won 6-0, 6-0.
Friday afternoon against the ThunderWolves the Mavericks took an early 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles action. CMU's number three team of Brason Hollabaugh and Trevor Brown won a tight pro-set match, 8-6 to secure the doubles sweep.
In singles action the Mavericks won five of the six matches, including two, three set victories. Spencer Weinberg (#2), Hollabaugh (#5) and Andres Hernandez (#6) each won in straight sets. Garcia-Rojas (#3) and Taylor Macres (#4) each won in third set super tie-breakers. CSUP's lone point came at number one singles. Alex Lesiuk defeated CMU's number one player, Jordan Lyden in three sets.
CMU and Western New Mexico, both undefeated in RMAC play will face off on Saturday morning in Pueblo for sole possession of first place. The match will take place at City Park, beginning at 9 am.
