The Colorado Mesa University men's lacrosse team played their season finale on Saturday afternoon at Walker Field against the Adams State Grizzlies. The Mavericks had a 4-3 lead at halftime and held on to win 10-9 over the Grizzlies. They finish the season with a 7-6 record and a 4-2 record in the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, while the Grizzlies fall to 3-9, 2-4 in the WILA.
Michael Beimford and
Josh Russell teamed to lead the Mavericks offensively. Beimford finished the game with four goals, three coming in the Mavericks four goal first half, while Russell had four assists in the game.
Junior
Kade Robinson also had a hat trick in the game, his first of the season.
Goalie
Brad Brandenburg picked up the win between the pipes pushing his season record to 6-6. Brandenburg finished with 15 saves
Johnny Nitti and Beimford each finished the game with seven groundballs.
