Mavs fall to first-place Lindenwood University

Colorado Mesa fell to league-leading Lindenwood University 19-6 in Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association action on Saturday. The loss dropped CMU to 3-9 overall and 3-5 in WILA action. Lindenwood improved to 14-1 overall and a perfect 9-0 in league play.

Lindenwood took an early 2-0 lead early in the contest. Allie Henderson cut the deficit in half on a goal (Paige Amme-assist) at 15:07 of the first period. The two teams traded goals as Henderson scored her second goal on a free position shot to pull the Mavs to within 2-3. Lindenwood went on a six-goal streak to open up the game for a 9-2 lead. Alison Stone broke up the consecutive goal run with an unassisted goal with 5:36 remaining in the first half. LU scored to make it 10-3 before Stone notched her second goal in less than a minute later to close the gap to 4-10. Lindenwood would close out the half with four straight goals and a 14-4 halftime advantage.

In the second half the Mavericks were outscored 5-2. Henderson scored both second half goals for CMU. Lexie Chavez assisted on the first goal and Henderson's final goal was unassisted.

Goalkeepers Lauren Wells and Kady Herzog each registered 30:00 in the net. Wells allowed 14 goals and made four saves. Herzog gave up five goals and had seven saves.

CMU will travel to Fort Lewis College on Friday, April 26 and play at Adams State on Saturday.
