The Colorado Mesa University men's lacrosse team took on the Tampa Spartans on Saturday afternoon at Walker Field. The Spartans came into the contest ranked sixth in the NCAA South Region Poll and a 11-5 record. The Mavericks outscored Tampa 7-1 in the second half on their way to a 11-4 victory.

Freshman Steve Brandenburg led the Mavericks offensively, recording his third hat trick of the season. All three of Brandenburg's goals came in the fourth quarter of play and were his 15th, 16th and 17th goals of the season.

Josh Russell also added two goals and two assists.

The duo of Zach Weaver and Brad Brandenburg in goal combined for 12 saves, two groundballs and only four goals allowed. 

Colorado Mesa is 6-5 on the season while the Spratans fell to 11-6 on the year.

The Mavericks will have their season finale on April 27 when they take on WILA rival Adams State at 1:00pm from Walker Field.
