Mavs Victorious over McKendree Bearcats 19-5

Colorado Mesa (3-8, 3-4 WILA) defeated McKendree 19-5 in Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association action on Friday morning in Lebanon, Ill., after waiting a day to play the game due to inclement weather on Thursday. The loss dropped the Bearcats to 1-12 overall and 0-8 in league play.

Allie Henderson and Ashley Eickoff scored five goals each in the contest as the Mavericks scored the first six goals of the game before McKendree was able to notch a goal. With a 6-1 lead the Mavericks went on a run of four consecutive goals for a 10-1 lead. McKendree scored the next two goals before the Mavericks closed out the first half with three goals, including two free position goals for a 13-3 halftime lead.

Eickoff tallied three first half goals and Henderson added two in the first 30-minutes of play. Kelsey Krebs and Paige Amme notched two first half goals each. Alison Stone, Tayler Lansdown, Kelly Cronin and Melissa Niedfelt each tallied one first half goal.

The Bearcats opened scoring two if the first three goals to pull to within 14-5. CMU's defense shutout McKendree the remainder of the game as the Bearcats final goal came at the 21:05 mark. CMU scored the final five goals; one by Lexie Chavez and two each from Eickoff and Henderson.

CMU outshot McKendree 36-14, were 13 of 14 on clears and finished 5 of 7 on free position shots.

Lauren Wells and Kady Herzog each saw action in the goal. Wells started the game and registered three saves, allowing three goals. Herzog made four saves and allowed two goals.

Next up for the Mavericks is a game at Lindenwood University on Saturday in St. Charles, Mo.
