Colorado Mesa (15-10-1, 13-6-1 RMAC) and UC-Colorado Springs (20-11-1, 15-7 RMAC) split Saturday's doubleheader at Bergman Field, splitting the series 2-2 following Friday's DH split.
Saturday the Mavericks won game one 2-1 before falling in the series finale 4-0 in a complete game shutout for UCCS' Jessica Belsterling.
CMU scored two runs, both unearned in game one and held off the Mountain Lions who left 10 runners on base and outhit CMU 8-6. The Mavs scored a run in the first inning and pushed the lead to 2-0 after three innings. UCCS cut the lead in half on a solo homerun by AllieCorids in the fourth.
Jessica Severinsen picked up win number 11 (11-3) allowing one run on eight hits, one walk and four strikeouts. Nicole Robinson went 2 for 4 with one RBI and one run scored.
Game four resulted in a complete game shutout for UCCS' Jessica Belsterling. She allowed two hits, walked two and struck out three batters. Belsterling hit two homeruns in the game, finishing 2 for 4 with three runs and two RBI.
CMU's Courtney Shreves started the game going 3.1 innings, allowing three runs on four hits. Severinsen pitched the final 3.2 innings, giving up one run on five hits, striking out two.
Lindsay Drayer and Nicole Robinson each tallied a hit for the Mavericks.
CMU will travel to Silver City, NM for a four game series at Western New Mexico University on Saturday and Sunday.
