Colorado Mesa men's tennis team blanked visiting Dallas Baptist University 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon at the Elliott Tennis Center on the campus of Colorado Mesa University.
CMU swept all three doubles matches to take an early 3-0 lead on the Patriots. The Mavericks allowed just four games in the three pro-set victories.
Jordan Lyden and Spencer Weinberg at number one doubles beat Phil Allen and Anthony Burch 8-4. Andres Garcia-Rojas and Andres Hernandez won 8-0 over Brad Hilliard and Nate Wilson at number 2 doubles. CMU's number 3 team of Brason Hollabaugh and Trevor Brown defeated Ty McAllister and Austin Serrett 8-0.
In singles action Weinberg beat Hilliard 6-0, 6-0 at number two singles. Garcia-Rojas at number three singles and Taylor Macres at number four singles, each gave up just a single game in their dual match. Garcia-Rojas won 6-1, 6-0 over Burch. Macres beat Wilson 6-0, 6-1. Hollabaugh defeated Serrett at number five singles, 6-2, and 6-1.
CMU's number one player Jordan Lyden led 6-5 over Allen when the match was clinched. CMU's Brown and McAllister did not finish at number six singles.
CMU will travel to Pueblo this weekend for the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolve Classic. The Mavericks will play nationally ranked Grand Canyon University, Sonoma State and Bethany College.
