#7 CMU Overpowers Chadron State 82-37

Colorado Mesa (20-1, 16-1 RMAC) raced past visiting Chadron State Eagles (3-18, 3-14 RMAC) 82-37 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action on Saturday night at Brownson Arena.   

Katrina Selsor led all players with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Selsor notched her eighth double-double of the season. She had 10 points and eight rebounds at halftime.

Laurel Kasel finished with a career high 14 points off the bench. Kasel was 5 of 8 form the floor including 4 of 7 from the 3-point line.

Christen Lopez tallied 13 points, three steals and two assists. Bruna Deichmann finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Effo Baker led all players with five assists.

CMU raced out to an 11-0 lead on the way to a 53-11 halftime advantage. CMU shot 54 percent (19-35) in the first half while the Eagles were 2 of 26 (8 percent) from the floor in the half. CMU forced 12 Chadron State turnovers resulting in 20 points.

Chadron State shot 26 percent in the second half and finished the contest with nine field goals on the night (9-53). The Eagles were led by Kattie Ranta's nine points and six rebounds.  Chadron's Greer Babbe had six blocked shots in the game.

Ten of the 13 Mavericks who entered the contest scored at least two points. CMU finished with 18 assists, eight steals and held a 55-32 rebound margin.

CMU will travel to New Mexico Highlands University and Western New Mexico next weekend. Friday's game versus the Cowgirls of NMHU is set to tip-off at 6 p.m.
