Mavericks Take Series With 7-3 Win

The Colorado Mesa University baseball team had their series finale against the Grand Canyon 'Lopes in Phoenix, AZ. The Mavericks fell behind 2-0 early but answered by scoring seven unanswered runs and winning 7-3. CMU won 2-of-3 games with Grand Canyon to win the series and improved to 6-4 on the season.

Joey Danner got the start on the mound and didnt disappoint. Danner pitched six innings and allowed two runs on seven hits, walked two and struck out seven and earned his second win of the season in as many starts.

Danner gave way to the bullpen for the final three innings. Cody Lahman and Aaron Corwin combined to allow one run on four hits, walked one and struck out four in relief.

Erik Kozel provided a spark at the top of the lineup for the Mavericks. Kozel went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI and stole his fourth base of the season in as many attempts.

Kennedy Kinkade also had a good day at first base. Kinkade finished the day 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two doubles, and an RBI.

Colorado Mesa will opening Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play at home on Friday with a doubleheader against Colorado Christian. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00pm.

Colorado Mesa 6, Grand Canyon 2

Nolan Snell picked up his first win of the season in a 6-2 win for Colorado Mesa. Snell pitched seven innings and allowed one run on five hits, walked four and struck out seven and improved to 1-1 on the season.

Erik Kozel and Justin Rosales each finished the game with two hits.
