Colorado Mesa (11-0, 7-0 RMAC) University held off visiting Colorado Christian (6-4, 3-3 RMAC) 68-58 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action on Friday night in Brownson Arena.
Kelsey Sigl led all players with 22 points, registering 13 points in the first half. Sharaya Selsor finished with 14 points and Bruna Deichmann tallied 13 points in the contest. Katrina Selsor pulled down a team high 10 rebounds and added eight points.
CMU led 38-23 at intermission and held the Cougars scoreless for the first eight minutes of the game, racing out to a 14-0 lead. CMU led by as many as 24 points in the first half (35-11) at the 4:25 mark. The two teams combined for 18 first-half turnovers with the Mavericks scoring 11 points on CCU turnovers, while the Cougars scored just two.
Early in the second half each team struggled offensively with CMU scoring just five points in the first nine minutes. CCU trailed 48-30 with 8:34 remaining in regulation before going on a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to 10 points (50-40). The Cougars pulled to within single digits with just under two minutes remaining (50-59) and closed the gap to five points (59-54) with 1:36 left in the game. CMU outscored CCU 9-4 in the final 1:30 hitting 7 of 8 from the foul line to secure the victory and remain undefeated.
CCU out rebounded the Mavericks 43-33, including 16 offensive rebounds. The Cougars shot 34.4 percent (21-61) from the field and were led by Taylor Torres' 21 points.
Colorado Mesa will host Colorado School of Mines on Saturday night. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
