W. Basketball Preview - Metro State & Regis

The #4 Colorado Mesa Mavericks will have a pair of crucial home games this weekend. On Friday, they will take on the Metro State Roadrunners followed by a Saturday tilt against the Regis Rangers. Fans on Friday are encouraged to wear Black in an effort to Black Out Brownson Arena. Here is a quick preview of both matchups.

Metro State University Roadrunners (11-5, 9-2 RMAC)

Last Week for the Roadrunners: Metro State won a pair of home games against Adams State and Fort Lewis. The Roadrunners defeated Adams State on Friday night 59-47 and then beat the Skyhawks on Saturday night 63-60.

RMAC Standings: The Roadrunners are in second place just two games behind Colorado Mesa. They have just a one game lead on third place CSU-Pueblo.

Roadrunner to Watch: Metro State is led by Senior Guard Kristin Valencia (Sr., Moriarty, N.M.). Valencia leads the Roadrunners in rebounds (8.2/game), Assists (3.4/game), Blocks (20), and steals (30). Valencia had 14 points and 16 rebounds in a win over CSU-Pueblo earlier this season.

Regis University Rangers (6-9, 5-6 RMAC)

Last Week for the Rangers: Regis dropped a pair of home games last weekend. On Friday they fell to the Fort Lewis Skyhawks 73-58 then on Saturday they dropped a match to the Grizzlies of Adams State 60-57.

RMAC Standings: The Rangers are in a tie for eighth place in the RMAC. They are tied with Black Hills State and trail seventh place Colorado Christian by a game.

Ranger to Watch: Do everything Sarah Feeney (Sr., Bismarck, N.D.) is the leader of the Rangers this season. Feeney leads Regis in nearly every statistical category. Earlier this season, she posted a 26 point, seven rebound effort against Colorado Christian.
