Colorado Mesa (15-0, 11-0 RMAC) University women's basketball team improved to 15-0 on the year defeating visiting Western State Colorado University (1-14, 1-10 RMAC) 70-45, Saturday night in Brownson Arena.
CMU was led by Bruna Deichmann and Kelsey Sigl's 14 points each and Sharaya Selsor finished with 12 points in the contest. The Mavericks out-rebounded WSCU 44-27 and held the Mountaineers to 29.8 (14-27) percent shooting from the field. Fourteen Mavericks registered playing time.
Western State was led by Desiree Smith's game high 15 points. Smith finished with five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
CMU shot 41.8 percent (23-55) from the floor and 26.3 percent (5-19) from the 3-point line. The Mavericks were 19 of 24 from the foul line.
Western State held a two point lead early in the contest (8-6) before the Mavericks went on an 11-0 run to push the lead to 17-8 with 10:13 remaining in the first half. CMU would never trail again, on the way to a school record 15 consecutive victories.
CMU will host Metro State and Regis University next weekend at Brownson Arena. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. on Friday versus the Roadrunners from Metro.
