Box Score             The Colorado Mesa University Women's played the Angelo State Rambelle's in a crucial South Central Region contest in Durango, Colo. this afternoon. The Mavericks came away with a 2-0 victory, sending Angelo State to their first loss of the season. Colorado Mesa improved to 2-0-1 on the season with all three matches coming against South Central Region foes.

            Junior Leilani Wiernicki struck early in the second half with a goal from about 30 yards out. Wiernicki's goal came on a free kick and beat the goalkeeper on the right hand side. The goal was her first of the season and came 1:44 into the second half, giving the Mavericks a 1-0 lead.

            Colorado Mesa got an insurance goal at the 73:06 mark of the match when Freshman Sarah Pope headed in a pass from Julia Kranstover to give the Mavericks a 2-0 advantage. The goal was Pope's team-leading third goal of the season.

            Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Schnetzler picked up her first shutout of the season, making 5 saves in the process.

            The Mavericks will travel to Gunnison on Sunday for a tilt with the Western State Colorado University Mountaineers. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00pm.
