The Mavericks tacked onto their lead with a goal in the 19th minute when
Kaitlynn Holt launched a shot from 30 yards out that touched the back of the net. The goal was Holt's first of the season and gave CMU the early 2-0 edge.
Midwestern State got one back in the 33rd minute when Kaila Maxsey scored a goal coming on a cross from the right side to cut the Maverick lead to 2-1.
Colorado Mesa picked up an insurance goal in the second half when
Daniela Salinas fired a shot that found the net in the 63rd minute. The goal was Salinas' first of the season and gave CMU the decisive 3-1 advantage.
Sarah Schnetzler and
Gina Goryoka combined on the win and allowed one goal while facing 15 shots with 3 saves.
The Mavericks face another crucial non-RMAC match on Friday in Durango against the Angelo State Rams.
