Colorado Mesa men's tennis team dropped their league match against visiting Metro State College 7-2 on Thursday evening at the Elliott Tennis Center on the campus of Colorado Mesa University.
CMU's number two doubles team of
Brason Hollabaugh and
Jonathan Casson defeated Metro's number 2 team 8-3, for the Mavs' dual point in doubles. The Mavs' number 1 doubles team of
Jordan Lyden and
Andres Hernandez battled to a pro-set tie-break before falling 9-8 (7-5).
The Roadrunners showed their strength winning five of the six singles matches for the 7-2 dual victory.
Freshman stand-out
Jordan Lyden at number 2 singles defeated Metro's number 2 player in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2 for the lone singles win and dual point.
Andres Hernandez (#3) lost a tight first set 5-7, 1-6 and CMU's
Jonathan Casson (#4) extended his opponenet to three sets before falling, 3-6, 6-2, 2-6.
CMU has a busy weekend as they host CSU-Pueblo at 9:30 am on Friday morning. On Saturday at 3 pm the Mavs will host Augustana (SD) and Sunday morning at 9 am, host Sonoma State.
