Colorado Mesa (26-20) defeated University of Neb.-Kearney 4-1 in Friday mornings match-up and advance to play the winner of Fort Lewis and Regis at 4 pm today in Golden, CO. CMU and their 4:00 pm opponent are the two remaining undefeated teams in the double elimination Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament
UNK scored one run in the bottom of the first on a wild pitch and the Mavs held the Lopers scoreless for the next six innings.
CMU scored four runs on four hits in the top of the fourth and held on for the 4-1 win. CMU's fourth started with a Lisa Pille walk and she advanced to second on a sac bunt by Brooke Ortale. Pille took third on a wild pitch. Tawnee Woosley singled (advanced to second on the throw) to score Pille. After a CMU out; Taylor Gross singled up the middle to score Woosley. Lita Romero's single moved Woosley to third. Romero stole second and a Danielle Vallie single up the middle scored Gross and Romero before the Lopers could close out the inning with a ground out.
Ashley Pulido pitched the complete game and picked up her second consecutive RMAC tournament victory, improving to 10-9 overall. She allowed one run on six hits and struck out three.
CMU tallied eight hits in the game led by Lita Romero's 3 for 3 day from the plate.
