The Colorado Mesa University Women's Lacrosse team took on the Regis University Rangers on Sunday as the Mavericks enter the final week of the second season in D-II Lacrosse.  The Mavs fell behind early and struggled to catch up as they ended up dropping the game to the Rangers to fall to 3-10 (2-5 WILA) on the season.
The Rangers opened up the match with a 5 goal burst to go up 5-0 at the 14:39 mark before the Mavs finally got on the board with a goal of their own with 8:12 remaining to make the score 5-1.  The Rangers would not let the Mavs get close, however, as they scored 3 of the next 4 goals in the game to go up 8-2 with 5:11 left in the first half; the Mavs would add on another goal of their own with 1:27 remaining to make the score 8-3 heading into the break.
The second half started off good for the Mavs as they went on a 5-2 run to close the gap to 10-8 with 13:33 remaining in the game.  The Rangers, though, would not let go of their hold of the lead as they closed out the game on a 3 goal run to make the score 13-8 final.

Allie Henderson lead the offensive effort for the Mavericks as Sutton finished the game with 2 goals on 2 shots and adding 3 groundballs and 5 draw controls; Henderson finished with 2 goals on 3 shots while adding 3 draw controls.

Melissa Niedfelt also contributed as each had a shot that found the back of the net for the Mavericks.
Lauren Elliott led the defensive effort for the Mavs as she finished the game with 2 groundballs and 3 caused turnovers; Myka Wieve helped Elliott on the defensive end of the field with 1 groundballs and 2 caused turnovers.  
Lauren Wells spent the entire game in the net for the Mavs as she earned the decision while stopping 17 shots.
The Mavs close out their season on Sunday when they take on their final WILA opponent, the Lindenwood Lions, at Walker Field.
