Box Score

The Colorado Mesa University Men's lacrosse team took on the Notre Dame de Namur Argonauts on Sunday as the Mavericks continue their second season in D-II lacrosse.  It was a good day for the Mavericks as they were able to sweep the season series from the Argos to go up 6-3 (4-1 WILA) on the season to remain tied for first in the conference.

The Mavericks struck first late in the first quarter after a goal from Stephen Dunn with 4:41 remaining and another from Kade Robinson with 1:28 remaining put the Mavs up 2-0 through the end of the quarter.  The Argos were able to get on the board early in the second after a goal coming at 14:30 made the score 2-1, but the Mavs would respond with the first of three unanswered goals starting at 10:55 from Robinson, the second at 9:15 again from Robinson, and the third with 6:33 remaining from Trace Wollner to go up 5-1 at the break.

The Mavs would add two more goals to their total in the third after a goal from Gabe Garcia with 5:49 remaining and a goal from Austin Pridham one minute later put them ahead 7-1; the Argos would add one more goal to their total with six seconds left in the quarter to make the score 7-2.  The Argos were able to add two more goals in the fourth to make the score 7-4 with 6:54 remaining, but the Mavs would not allow them back in the game as the Mavs went on another three goal run to close out the game starting at 5:42 from Robinson, the second at 3:19 from Garcia, and the last goal at 1:03 from James Sharp to make the score 10-4 final.

Robinson and Garcia led the offensive effort as Robinson finished the game with 4 goals on 5 shots with 1 assist and one groundball, and Garcia finished with 2 goals on 2 shots with 1 groundball.  Pridham and Daniel Caddoo also contributed as Pridham had 1 goal and 2 assists, and Caddoo ended the game with a team high 3 assists, 1 groundball, and 1 caused turnover.

Brad Brandenburg and Zach Weaver split time in the net as Brandenburg allowed only 1 goal while saving 7 as he earned the decision, and Weaver allowed 3 goals while saving 3.

The Mavericks continue their season on Saturday when they look to avenge their only conference loss as they take on the Dominican University Penguins at Walker Field.
