Colorado Mesa men's tennis team opened RMAC action at Colorado Christian on Saturday sweeping the Cougars 9-0. On Sunday the Mavs defeated non-conference opponent Colorado College 7-2 at Ken Caryl Ranch in Denver. Friday afternoon in Lakewood the Mavericks fell to #14-Bethany College (Kan) 8-1 in dual action.
Standout freshman Jordan Lyden continues to put up victories for the Mavs winning all three singles matches at number 2 singles and posting a 2-1 doubles record over the weekend with partner Andres Hernandez. Lyden beat Bethany's number 2 player in three sets, coming from behind for the win (3-6, 6-2, 6-4). Lyden beat CCU' s and CC's number 2 players each in straight sets giving up just three total games in four sets.
CMU defeated the Cougars 9-0 to kick off the RMAC spring season. On Sunday the Mavs took 2 of 3 doubles matches from the Colorado College Tigers winning at number 1 and 2 respectively. Lyden and Hernandez edged out CC's number one team 9-7. Brason Hollabaugh and Jonathan Casson won at number 2 doubles, 8-4.
In singles action CMU won 5 of the 6 singles matches for the 6-3 victory. Hollabaugh (#1), Lyden (#2), Hernandez (#3), John Hendrickson (#5) and Sterling Inouye (#6) each notched singles wins.
CMU will host Hope International (Calif.) on Wednesday at 3:30 pm.
