Colorado Mesa men's tennis team posted a 2-4 record on the annual spring break trip to Arizona and California. CMU swept Glendale Community College 9-0 and defeated Mesa Community College 7-2. The Mavericks fell to Grand Canyon University (0-9), St. Cloud State (4-5), and NAIA powers Lewis & Clark State College (ID) 1-8 and Azusa Pacific University 0-9.
Freshman Jordan Lyden went 4-2 overall at number 2 singles. Lyden defeated St. Clouds, Glendale CC, Mesa CC and Lewis & Clark's number two player to lead the Mavs over the week-long trip. Lyden and Andres Hernandez went 3-3 overall at number 1 doubles, defeating St. Cloud, Glendale CC and Mesa CC's top doubles team.
CMU will open RMAC action this weekend as they travel to Lakewood, CO. for a match-up with Colorado Christian. The Mavericks will play regional Bethany College (NE) and Colorado Schools Mine's club team on Saturday. Sunday morning CMU will play a non-conference match against Colorado College.
