The Colorado Mesa University Men's Lacrosse team took on the Florida Tech Panthers on Thursday, as the Mavericks continued their East Coast road trip.
It was a good day for the Mavericks as they won 12-8 to go 2-0 so far on their road trip.
The Panthers struck first at 10:16 in the first quarter to go up 1-0 early, but that would be the last lead for the Panthers. The Mavericks rallied off 4 straight goals to close out the first quarter up 4-1. The Mavericks then added another goal at 14:41 in the 2nd to go up 5-1 before the Panthers added 2 more of their own at 12:28 and 5:37 in the 2nd to close the gap 5-3, but the Mavericks added one more to their tally to go up 6-3 at the break.
The Panthers added another goal at 13:43 in the 3rd before the Mavericks went on a 3 goal run concluding at 2:26 remaining to widen their lead to 9-4. The Panthers would add one more at 1:33 left in the 3rd before the Mavericks struck twice in the last minute to go up 11-5. In the 4th, the Panthers would score 3 goals within two minutes to close the gap 11-8, but it was too little too late as the Mavericks added one more to their total at 2:51 remaining in the game to make the score 12-8 final.
The Mavericks were led by Austin Pridham as he scored 3 goals on 5 shots while also picking up 1 groundball. Kade Robinson and James Sharp also helped the Maverick effort as both picked up 2 goals while Robinson also earned 1 assist. Other Mavericks that scored were Trace Wollner, Griffin Perkiel, Aaron Eggiman, Michael Giffen, and Gabe Garcia.
Brad Brandenburg earned the decision for the Mavs as he spent 51:03 in the net and picked up 7 saves.
The Mavericks conclude their road trip on Saturday, March 17, when they travel to Winter Park, Florida, to take on the Rollins College Tars.
