Mavs Fall to No. 7 Metro State in RMAC Quarterfinal 84-61

Colorado Mesa (13-14, 11-11 RMAC) fell to No. 7 Metro State (25-2, 202 RMAC) in quarterfinal action of the RMAC Shootout on Tuesday night in Denver on the campus of Metro State College.

The Roadrunners shot 61.7 percent (29-47) from the floor, 66.7 percent (8-12) from the 3-point line and 81.8 percent (18-22) from the foul line, ending CMU's season. The Mavericks shot 43.9 percent (18-41); hit 7 of 16 from the 3-point line and 18 of 24 from the foul line.

Metro held a 34-30 halftime lead and outscored CMU 50-31 in the second half for the victory and advance to the RMAC Shootout semifinal round on Friday in Pueblo.

Kelsey Sigl led all players with 18 points. Four CMU Mavericks registered double digit figures in the contest. Katrina Selsor and Tera Gehring each finished with 12 points and Hanna Bowden recorded 10 points and game high six rebounds.

The score was tied five times in the first half with the final tie at 27-27 coming with 4:04 left. Metro closed out the first half on a 7-3 run to take a four point lead in to intermission. CMU tied the score early in the second half (35-35) on a layup by Sigl at the 18:14 mark. Metro put together a 14-4 run for a 10 point lead (49-39) with 13:37 remaining in regulation. CMU cut the deficit to 5 points (44-49) at 12:10 before the Roadrunners pushed the lead back to double digits for good with just under 9-minutes remaining.

Metro had four players in double digits led by Caley Dow's 15 points and seven rebounds. The Roadrunners advance to play Western State College on Friday afternoon in Pueblo.
