 Colorado Mesa women's lacrosse dropped its home opener, 22-9 to Regis University on Saturday afternoon at Walker Field. It was the season opener for both teams. 
 The Rangers jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first 12-minutes of the game. CMU settled in and scored back-to-back goals by Lexie Chavez (16:28) and Allie Henderson (15:42) to close the gap to 2-9. The two teams traded goals as Regis' Morgan Taylor scored her third consecutive goal for a 10-2 Ranger lead. Less than three minutes later CMU's Amanda Simon scored her first goal of the year (10:21). Regis closed out the first half with a goal and an 11-3 halftime advantage. 
 RU took the opening draw control in the second half and extended the lead to 12-3 at the 29:00 mark. CMU scored on consecutive goals by Chavez and Tayler Lansdown (5-12). Regis went on a six goal run and an 18-5 in a span of nine minutes. 
 CMU's Rachael Sutton scored her first goal of her collegiate career (11:10) before the Rangers went on a 3-goal spurt to push the lead to 21-6. CMU scored three goals late and the Rangers closed out the game with a final goal as time expired. 
 Regis outshot the Mavericks 38-18 and held a 22-10 draw control advantage. 
 Lexie Chavez and Rachel Sutton led the Mavs with three goals each. Amanda Simon, Allie Henderson and Tayler Lansdown each registered a goal. Goalkeeper Lauren Wells allowed 22 goals and recorded 10 saves. 
  CMU will travel to St. Charles, MO., for a matchup with Lindenwood University on Friday and Lake Erie College on Saturday. The Mavericks return home on March 2 to host Adams State College at Walker Field.
