Colorado Mesa remains undefeated on the year (8-0, 4-0 RMAC) beating New Mexico Highlands (3-5, 3-1 RMAC) 85-51, handing the Cowgirls their first league loss of the season. CMU dominated from start to finish leading 46-28 at intermission and never trailing in the contest.
Katrina Selsor posted a double-double finishing with 17 points and a career high 15 rebounds.
Kelsey Sigl and
Sharaya Selsor each registered a game high 19 points and combined for seven assists. Sigl had nine rebounds and three blocks on the night.
CMU opened the game on a 17-4 run and never trailed by less than double digits after the 13:35 mark of the first half. The Mavs shot 58 percent (15-26) in the first half and 50 percent (29-58) for the game. CMU dominated the boards with a 46-28 rebound margin and forced 22 Cowgirl turnovers. The Mavericks scored 26 points in the paint and 25 points off turnovers.
NMHU was led by China Smith's 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench. NMHU shot 29 percent (15-51) from the field.
CMU will wrap up the month of December with conference games at Fort Lewis College on Sunday, December 17 and at Adams State on Monday, December 18.
