Colorado Mesa will travel to Gunnison to take on the Western State Colorado Mountaineers tonight at 7:00pm in Paul Wright Gymnasium. This will be the first of two duals with the Mountaineers this season. Here is a quick preview along with some projected matchups.

The Mountaineers: Western State is led by a pair of sophomores in Dustin Steigemeyer at 125 pounds and Elliot Copeland at 174 pounds. Both qualified for the NCAA National Championships and Copeland finished in the Top 8 and was an All-American. So far this season, Copeland is 7-0 after winning the Colorado Open and the Nebraska-Kearney Holiday Inn Open.
Steigemeyer is 6-2 and won the Colorado Open.
Western State's Season to date: The Mountaineers competed in both the Nebraska-Kearney Holiday Inn Open and the Colorado Open and fared well in both. This will be there first dual of the season and only dual before the Christmas Break. The following week, they will head to Indianapolis to compete in the Midwest Classic hosted by the University of Indianapolis.

Next Up for the Mavericks: Colorado Mesa will be off til just after the Christmas Break. They will head to Phoenix on January 5 for the Grand Canyon Duals. They will take on National Power St. Cloud State, Minot State, and Simon Fraser in the GCU Duals. There next home match will be on January 10 when they take on California Baptist.
