Late Goal Propels #18 Skyhawks over CMU

Box Score         The Colorado Mesa women's soccer team fell to the 18th ranked Skyhawks of Fort Lewis 2-1. The Skyhawks got a goal with under 4 minutes left in regulation to push their record to 6-0-1 and 3-0-0 in the RMAC while the Mavericks fall to 3-4-0 and 2-1-0 in the RMAC.
        Fort Lewis struck first in the match with a goal at the 2:23 mark of the match. Skyhawk Emma Cannis tallied her 3rd goal of the season to give the Skyhawks the early 1-0 lead.
        CMU answered back a little over 7 minutes later. Sophomore Leilani Wiernicki launched a free kick from nearly 30 yards out to even the score at 1-1. The goal was Wiernicki's first of the season.
        Fort Lewis delivered the final blow in the 87th minute of the match. Skyhawk Megan Streidel's header gave Fort Lewis the 2-1 edge in the match.
        Freshman Sarah Schnetzler took the tough loss in goal. Schnetzler made one save in the match.
        Colorado Mesa will continue its road swing on Friday with a RMAC matchup with the Adams State Grizzlies in Alamosa. The Mavericks will finish their weekend road swing with a Sunday matchup against the UCCS Mountain Lions in Colorado Springs.
