Mavs take two at CSU-Pueblo

Danielle Vallie's two-out hit in the eighth inning helped the Mavs to a doubleheader sweep at CSU-Pueblo Saturday afternoon. Vallie singled and a throwing error by the T-Wolves shortstop scored Lita Romero form second. Romero hit a two-out double.

CSU-Pueblo held a 5-4 lead after a three-run home run in the fifth. MSC entered the seventh down one run and scored two to take a 6-5 lead. Two out in the inning Shannon McClenahan doubled to right center to score Lauren Cross (single). Samantha Farris' single to centerfield scored McClenahan before Farris was ruled out, ending the inning with the Mavs up 6-5.

In the ThunderWolf seventh a two-out solo homerun to left center tied the score at 6-6.

MSC's eighth inning, unearned run sealed the victory. Ashley Pulido earned her first career save setting down the T-Wolves in order to sweep the doubleheader.

Game one the Mavericks scored 13 runs on 14 hits scoring multiple runs in four of the six innings.

Vallie and Sara Jordan had three hits each and combined for five runs and three RBI. Gabriella Parra went 2 for 4 with two runs and five RBI. Cross and McClenahan had two hits each.

Ashley Pulido went the distance earning her fourth victory. Pulido allowed five runs (three earned) on seven hits, one walk and three strikeouts.

Jordan won game two allowing six runs on nine hits going 7.0 innings.

MSC returns home for it final regular home series versus Western New Mexico. Saturday's doubleheader starts at Noon. Sunday, Senior Day, first pitch is 11 a.m.
