Mesa State dropped a doubleheader at CSU-Pueblo falling 10-7 and 9-1 (5 innings) to fall to 19-18 overall and 17-15 in RMAC action.
MSC scored four of their seven runs in the first inning on three hits. CSU-Pueblo scored one run in the bottom half and the Mavs led 4-1 after one inning.
The T-Wolves scored six runs in the third inning and never trailed again. CSU-P's six runs on six hits included a two-run homerun. CSU-P added one run in the fourth and two in the fifth recording 10 runs on 14 hits, despite three errors. Trailing 10-4 MSC added three runs in the sixth on a three-run blast by Gabriella Parra. MSC was set down in order in the seventh.
Sara Jordan took the loss going 6.0 innings; allowing 10 runs on 14 hits, four walks and one strikeout.
Vallie and Parra had two hits each and combined for four runs and five RBI.
In game two CSU-P defeated MSC 9-1 in five innings, scoring at least a run in all but the fourth inning. The T-Wolves jumped out to a 4-0 on three hits through two innings.
MSC's lone run (unearned) came in the third with Romero's single up the middle. She advanced to second on an error and eventually scored on an error by the pitcher.
CSU-P scored five runs in the bottom of the third on five hits including a lead-off homerun. MSC failed to score a run in the fifth to extend the game, falling 9-1.
Parra started the game and 2.2 innings, allowing nine runs (six earned) on 10 hits. She recorded three base-on-balls and three strikeouts. Ashley Pulido closed out the final 1.1 innings, allowing one hit.
Mesa State and CSU-Pueblo will play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
