Mesa State (7-6, 5-3) split Sunday's doubleheader and the series with visiting UC-Colorado Springs (6-11, 3-5). MSC's game one win was Head Coach Kris Mort's 500th career victory. MSC won game one 15-7 (5 innings) and dropped the second game by the score of 8-6.

MSC registered 20 hits in game one and eight of the nine batters tallied at least one hit. Lita Romero was 4 for 4 with two runs and one RBI. Gabriella Parra went 3 for 3 with two runs and two RBI and Megan Smith's 3 for 4 game included two homeruns and four RBI. Lisa Pille finished game one 3 for 4 with two runs.

Sara Jordan improved to 4-1 on the year going 5.0 innings; allowing seven runs on 10 hits. MSC scored at least one run in each inning and opened the game with six runs in the bottom of the first.

In game two the Mavericks rallied from a 6-2 deficit after five to tie the game a 6-6 with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. UCCS scored two in the top of the seventh and held off the Mavs in the bottom half of the inning for the 8-6 win and series split.

Wailana Borrero started the game going 4.0 innings; giving up six runs (3 earned) on nine hits. Ashley Pulido pitched the final 3.0 innings allowing two runs on five hits. UCCS' Becca Smith went the distance picking up her second win of the year for the Mountain Lions.

MSC had 12 hits led by Smith, Shannon McClenahan and Romero who each went 2 for 3 from the plate and combined for three runs and three RBI.

MSC will travel to Chadron State this weekend for a four game series with the Eagles.
